Job summary

Academy Sports + Outdoors is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Katy, TX to design and maintain a scalable enterprise data platform. You’ll build trusted data pipelines, govern data assets, and collaborate with Data Products and Analytics teams to empower business stakeholders with reliable information.

You will drive CI/CD, IaC, and observability while mentoring engineers and advancing security, performance, and data quality across cloud-native solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• 7+ years in Data/Platform/Cloud Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience designing large-scale enterprise data platforms and integration solutions.
• Experience with cloud platforms, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience developing and supporting data orchestration, streaming technologies, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and observability solutions.
• Experience implementing security, governance, metadata management, lineage, and data quality frameworks.
• Retail or related industry experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise data platform architecture, cloud-native engineering, and data integration patterns.
• Experience designing and supporting ELT/ETL frameworks, ingestion services, and enterprise data pipelines.
• Strong proficiency with SQL, Python, BigQuery scripting, or similar technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data ingestion and ELT/ETL pipelines.
• Shape enterprise data platform security, governance, lineage, and data quality.
• Collaborate with Data Products, Analytics Engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver trusted data solutions.
• Lead automation initiatives, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code across cloud environments.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineers across development and operations.
