Job description

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

Engineering Training Lead is a critical role designed to elevate the operational efficiency, innovation, and strategic alignment of the Hardware organization. This role goes beyond traditional training by driving organizational strategy, fostering collaboration, and developing Centers of Excellence (CoEs) to empower teams across Quality, Configuration Management, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. The Engineering Training Lead will serve as a catalyst for continuous improvement, ensuring the organization is equipped to meet current and future challenges with agility and excellence. This role will work closely with the Head/Director of Operations, HW Engineering, and will be a key member of their team. You will partner with hardware engineering org leadership and teams across the company to unpack ambiguous problems and build lasting, scalable solutions. Your work will vary from quick-turn operational fire-fighting, building and redesigning processes, to leading long-term high-impact strategic projects. Your role will enable and provide operational leverage to the engineering organization that underpins and differentiates Anduril as the next generation defense prime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and Manage Centers of Excellence and Early Career Programs: Lead the build of and scale of impactful programs, such as Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in collaboration with HW teams. This includes defining the strategy, scope, and operational framework for these CoEs.
  • Training Strategy & Interface: Serve as the primary liaison with the Business Systems team to ensure training materials are accurate, effective, and reflect the stated standards, processes, and needs of the HW Engineering organization. Develop and own the overall training strategy for the Hardware organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and engineering best practices.
  • Alignment and Socialization: Proactively socialize new standards, tool updates, and process changes to ensure broad adoption and alignment across all consuming teams. This includes developing communication strategies to effectively convey the value and implementation details of these changes.
  • Change Management: Develop comprehensive change management strategies for programs and projects. Leads the execution of change management efforts for various initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption. Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing change management deliverables, including overall change plans, communication plans, and integration with training plans.
  • Documentation and Standardization: Own the official document lifecycle for key engineering processes and standards. Work collaboratively with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to map, write, and maintain high-quality, user-centric process documentation that is accessible and actionable for all engineers.
  • Metrics and Analytics: Leverage analytics and insights to identify trends in training effectiveness, process adoption, and operational efficiency. Recommend data-driven actions for program design, continuous improvement, and measurement of success across all key initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering Leadership, Quality, Configuration Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to understand their specific training and operational needs and to co-create solutions.
  • Program Leadership: Drive the planning, execution, and successful delivery of key operational programs and initiatives that enhance the capabilities and efficiency of the Hardware Engineering organization.
What Success Looks Like
  • Increased proficiency and adoption of engineering software tools and critical processes across all Hardware teams.
  • Enhanced operational efficiency and engineering excellence through well-defined processes, effective training, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Established and thriving Centers of Excellence and other programs that drive innovation, collaboration, and standardization within the Hardware organization.
  • A future-ready Hardware Engineering organization equipped to tackle emerging challenges with confidence, agility, and a culture of continuous learning.
  • Measurable improvements in key performance indicators related to training effectiveness, process adherence, and overall organizational productivity.
Here’s who you are:
  • Undergraduate degree in an engineering major or a related technical field.
  • 6+ years of working experience, with a minimum of 2+ years in a technical engineering role or 2+ years in a consulting, operations, finance, product management, or general business analysis role.
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing training programs and change management initiatives within a technical or engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of operational processes within engineering organizations, including Quality, Configuration Management, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering domains.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate and articulate thoughts clearly and simply across a wide range of roles, from working-level engineers to executives.
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with and influencing leadership and executives, with a proven ability to cultivate trust and facilitate productive meetings.
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to solve operational problems not only from a data-driven lens but also in a people-centric way, by building strong cross-functional relationships.
  • A blend of tactical execution and strategic thinking. You are comfortable rolling up your sleeves and diving deep into executing operational tasks that require high attention to detail and organizational skills, while also being able to zoom out at a 30,000-foot level to create strategies that solve high-level problems for the organization and the company.
  • High ownership with the horsepower to juggle multiple (3-5+) large projects and priorities in parallel, at a rapid pace, and report out on progress regularly without dropping any balls.
  • Discerning, proactive, and an incredibly fast learner.
