Job summary

Stryker Group in Portage, MI is seeking a manufacturing controls technician for 1st shift (Mon–Fri 6:00AM–2:30PM) with weekend coverage as needed. You will document safety, lead 6S, and collaborate with engineering to upgrade equipment and implement new tooling on the production floor.

The role requires 3+ years of controls experience, proficiency with calibrated devices and reading mechanical prints, and strong knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs; Python, SQL, or Minitab is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Proficiency with calibrated devices and reading detailed mechanical prints.
• Minimum 3+ years of controls experience.
• Preferred: 5+ years in manufacturing, controls, maintenance, or engineering technician experience.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, Python, SQL, or Minitab.

Responsibilities

• Document safety and lead 6S in area and plant-wide production area.
• Work with engineering to upgrade equipment and specify new tooling.
• Document results of projects and provide in-depth analysis of improvements.
• Collaborate with vendors on tooling and process improvements.
• Specify tooling for new or existing processes and guide orders.
• Partner with operations to plan and implement new technology on the production floor.
• Train employees on fabrication processes and inspect results.
• Support day-to-day production with troubleshooting and technical advising on tooling/equipment.
