Job description

Job Title: SR Engineering Technician

We are seeking a SR Engineering Technician to support our client's IPP (Infrastructure, Planning, and Process) quality assurance labs.

This is a full-time W-2 contract position based in Santa Clara, CA, with a pay range of $45/hr to $65/hr, depending on experience, education, and location. We offer full benefits, PTO, and a vibrant company culture.

Role Overview

You will provide a test-bed environment for developers to test software on various NVIDIA hardware before release. Collaboration with Infrastructure Engineers to install and maintain Windows/Linux platforms is essential. The lab environment is prone to software bugs that can affect hardware, so early detection of issues is critical. If you enjoy working with technology and thrive in a fast-paced R&D environment, this role offers exciting challenges.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage labs and data centers using DCIM tools, spreadsheets, and task tracking systems.
  2. Define standards to ensure labs are safe, clean, and organized.
  3. Deploy test boards, run automated tests, and troubleshoot issues related to test setup rather than hardware/software faults.
  4. Coordinate hardware/software upgrades with board engineers.
  5. Collaborate with system architects, chip and board designers, software/firmware engineers, QA teams, and applications engineers to drive product development.
  6. Participate in procurement decisions, test proof of concepts, and provide recommendations.
  7. Collect and track lab metrics to monitor progress.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  2. 4+ years of experience in a lab or data center environment.
  3. Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  4. Experience deploying and cabling servers and test equipment.
  5. Intermediate understanding of Unix/Windows and networking with enterprise switches and routers.
  6. System administrator experience on Unix/Windows and scripting skills (bash/python).
  7. Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  8. Perseverance in debugging and problem-solving with innovative thinking.
  9. Enjoyment of hands-on work in multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  1. Visio and CAD experience for lab R&D and rack management.
  2. Procurement experience in data centers.
  3. Experience handling PDUs and power management.
  4. Scripting experience.
  5. Basic knowledge of Git/Perforce for version control.
  6. Ability to write SQL queries for MySQL databases.

Sustainable Talent is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, including for individuals with disabilities and veterans.
