Job summary

The role oversees a para-professional engineering program, coordinates sidewalk and road repairs, and represents the City in technical matters and hearings.

Requires six years of paraprofessional engineering experience or advanced degrees with related experience.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of paraprofessional engineering experience.
• Alternative: Associate's degree + four (4) years paraprofessional engineering work experience.
• Bachelor's degree + two (2) years paraprofessional engineering work experience.
• Master's degree or higher + one (1) year paraprofessional engineering work experience.
• A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required.
• Transcript or diploma must be provided at time of processing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates a para-professional engineering program acting as the main point of contact, ensuring work is conducted according to program requirements.
• Inspects resident reports of sidewalk and roadway damage and assigns projects to repair programs based on severity and capacity.
• Represents department on technical matters with other City departments, contractors, and outside agencies.
• Provides technical information and represents the City at hearings and legal proceedings.
• Meets with area residents and business representatives to discuss concerns and problems.
• Directs field engineering and construction personnel in project surveys and repairs of City infrastructure.
• Supervises construction to ensure compliance with city requirements and standards.
• Conducts field inspections to review staff/contractor work for compliance.
