Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to design, install, and maintain advanced physical security and ESS for a DoD mission in Wahiawa, HI. Lead site surveys, prepare IDPs, and ensure SIPH-compliant designs with Lenel and Axis tech.

The role requires TS/SCI eligibility, CompTIA Security+ and strong leadership skills to guide installation teams in a mission-critical environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience; or 10+ years of equivalent professional experience without a degree.
  • 5+ years of experience developing Installation Design Packages (IDPs) and Base Electronics Systems Engineering Plans (BESEPs).
  • 5+ years of experience conducting site surveys, managing systems installations, and supporting field operations for IT and electronic security systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Lenel access control systems and products.
  • Experience supporting Axis video surveillance solutions.
  • Experience administering Windows 11, Windows Server 2022, and Windows Server 2025 environments.
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing technical personnel.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification required.
  • Ability to work onsite in Wahiawa, Hawaii.

Responsibilities

  • Design, install, test, and maintain Electronic Security Systems (ESS), including Access Control Systems (ACS), CCTV, and IDS.
  • Develop and validate engineering drawings per DoD standards and practices.
  • Provide engineering support through technical reviews, product selection, surveys, system design, and documentation.
  • Conduct and lead site surveys to assess customer requirements and recommend security system enhancements.
  • Lead design reviews and provide technical recommendations to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain Lenel access control systems, security hardware, and software.
  • Evaluate COTS products and identify replacement solutions for EOL equipment.
  • Maintain As-Built documentation for fiber optic, CCTV, IDS, ACS, head-end equipment, and other ESS.
  • Develop Installation Design Packages (IDPs) compliant with SIPH standards for PACS, IDS/PIDS, VMS, and other low-voltage security systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support installation, maintenance, and modernization.

Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Technician to support a high-visibility federal mission focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced Physical Security Engineering and Electronic Security Systems (ESS) for a secure government environment. This position is based onsite in Wahiawa, HI, where the selected candidate will work alongside systems administrators and network engineers to support mission-critical security infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with access control systems, CCTV, intrusion detection, installation design packages, and secure facility engineering within DoD environments.

SIGN-ON BONUS OFFERED | TS/SCI CLEARANCE REQUIRED (SCI Eligibility Required | Ability to Obtain CI Polygraph)

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, install, test, and maintain Electronic Security Systems (ESS), including Access Control Systems (ACS), Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS).
  • Develop and validate engineering drawings in accordance with DoD engineering standards and practices.
  • Provide engineering support through technical reviews, product selection, customer site surveys, system design, technical documentation, and implementation of physical security solutions.
  • Conduct and lead site surveys to assess customer requirements and recommend security system enhancements.
  • Lead design reviews and provide technical recommendations to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain Lenel access control systems, security hardware, and associated software.
  • Evaluate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) products and identify replacement solutions for end-of-life (EOL) equipment.
  • Maintain accurate As-Built documentation for fiber optic infrastructure, CCTV, IDS, ACS, head-end equipment, and other Electronic Security Systems.
  • Develop Installation Design Packages (IDPs) compliant with SIPH standards for PACS, IDS/PIDS, Video Management Systems (VMS), and other low-voltage security systems supporting highly secure environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support ongoing installation, maintenance, and modernization efforts.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Compensation: Up to $140,000 annually (based on experience, education, certifications, and overall qualifications).
