Job summary

GEI Consultants seeks a Practice Leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources, Engineering and Civil Engineering to drive growth in the Richmond area and lead technical projects, reporting to the Washington, DC area Branch Manager. The role focuses on expanding services with key clients and guiding project execution across multiple offices.

The position requires strong business development, senior leadership, and staff mentorship, with travel to Richmond, Charlottesville, DC, and Maryland

Qualifications

• Successful track record as a Seller-Doer with strong client relationships and business development capability.
• Senior Leader respected for technical capabilities and risk/engineering contract management experience.
• Ability to identify and lead engineering project opportunities in the region.
• Collegial team builder with excellent leadership skills.
• Broad understanding of the Richmond area needs, opportunities, and emerging trends.
• Experience supervising/leading/mentoring and growing staff.
• Willing and able to travel between Richmond, Charlottesville, Washington, DC and Rockville, Maryland offices and client locations on an as-needed basis.
• Technical engineering experience in water resources, energy, and transportation sectors a plus.

• Lead proposal efforts responding to both public and private RFPs.
• Partner with marketing and others to develop GEI “branding” within practice.

• Manage and mentor junior staff both technically and professionally.
• Actively participate in professional, industry, and policy groups to foster client relationships within the geotechnical engineering, water resources, and civil engineering practice/market.
• Ensure that GEI’s health and safety (H&S) culture and GEI’s quality processes are followed.
