Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Engineering Project Management Senior to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC). The role leads complex government projects, develops baselines, and coordinates with stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery while maintaining budget integrity. The position requires a Secret U.S.

Government Clearance, a STEM degree, and 8+ years in project management. A valid U.S. driver’s license is also required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM required.
• 8+ years of experience in project management; engineering project management preferred.
• Experience with Catalyst project management methodology and related budgeting, planning, control, and assurance practices.
• Experience aligning projects with client vision, business objectives and critical success factors.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Define project scope, schedules, budgets, objectives, and deliverables for large government projects.
• Document baselines and decompose work into manageable components.
• Coordinate with project staff to ensure communication and scope adherence.
• Review project status, flag risks, delays, or budget overruns early.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage change orders affecting scope, cost, and schedule.
• Assist or lead RFP reviews and develop technical elements, schedules, and price estimates.
• Oversee status reporting and present inputs to customers.
• Mentor other PMs and lead Communities of Practice.
• Develop and improve POG processes and tools.
• Challenge wasteful processes and propose improvements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Amentum is seeking a Engineering Project Management Senior to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC).

Essential Functions

• Manage large government projects preparing and defining the project scope of work, detailed schedules, budgets, objectives, and deliverables for projects involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
• Document the baseline for engineering projects and decompose complex work activities into manageable components.
• Identify project resource requirements and coordinate directly and indirectly with project staff to ensure successful completion of the project. Organize project team members to ensure communication and understanding of scope, timelines, assignments, and objectives. Participate in work as applicable.
• Perform on-going review of project status and elevate issues where necessary. Notify management team early of potential technical challenges, schedule delays, and budget overages or shortfalls.
• Identify project risks and opportunities. Recommend and implement risk mitigation solutions as approved and as appropriate.
• Interface with project staff and stakeholders to manage and assess change orders in each project, which may involve changes to project scope, cost, and schedule.
• Assist and/or lead detailed reviews of Request of Proposals (RFP). Assist and/or lead a team to develop technical elements, schedule, and price estimates for proposal submission.
• Oversee weekly, monthly, and quarterly status reporting on project performance against budget, financial and operational goals. Interface with the customer providing inputs to technical presentations, telecoms, and formal reviews.
• Mentor other project managers on best practices within the Project Operations Group (POG) and lead Community of Practice.
• Create and lead new and/or modified POG processes, tools, procedures, and best practices and provide solutions to complex issues within the organization.
• Challenge organizational processes that do not contribute to value delivery, and illustrate better process alternatives.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in STEM required
• 8+ years of experience in project management; engineering project management preferred
• Experience working with project management methodology such as Catalyst including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, project management software and finance and accounting concepts and practices
• Experience working with client vision, business objectives, and critical success factors
• Experience working with delivery assurance principles and procedures
• Experience working with techniques and approaches related to architecture, development, integration, and deployment of project phases
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual starting salary for this position is between $130,000 - $145,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
