Amentum is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) onsite at Vandenberg SFB. Responsibilities include defining scope, schedules, budgets, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility.

Requirements include a STEM degree, 5+ years in project management (engineering PM preferred), and the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM required.
• 5+ years of experience in project management; engineering project management preferred.
• Experience with Catalyst project management methodologies including budget development, planning, control and assurance.
• Experience aligning client vision, business objectives, and success factors.
• Experience with delivery assurance principles and procedures.
• Experience with architecture, development, integration, and deployment of project phases.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
• Valid U.S. Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Define project scope of work, schedules, budgets, objectives, and deliverables for large government projects.
• Document baseline for engineering projects and break down work into components.
• Coordinate with project staff; organize teams for clear communication on scope and timelines.
• Monitor project status and escalate issues early to management.
• Identify risks and opportunities; implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage change orders affecting scope, cost, and schedule.
• Assist/lead RFP reviews and develop technical elements, schedules, and price estimates.
• Lead status reporting and coordinate inputs for technical presentations and reviews.
• Mentor other project managers and lead Community of Practice within POG.
• Develop and improve POG processes, tools, and best practices.

Job description

Amentum is seeking an Engineering Project Management to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) to work onsite at Vandenberg SFB.

Essential Functions

• Manage large government projects preparing and defining the project scope of work, detailed schedules, budgets, objectives, and deliverables for projects involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
• Document the baseline for engineering projects and decompose complex work activities into manageable components.
• Identify project resource requirements and coordinate directly and indirectly with project staff to ensure successful completion of the project. Organize project team members to ensure communication and understanding of scope, timelines, assignments, and objectives. Participate in work as applicable.
• Perform on-going review of project status and elevate issues where necessary. Notify management team early of potential technical challenges, schedule delays, and budget overages or shortfalls.
• Identify project risks and opportunities. Recommend and implement risk mitigation solutions as approved and as appropriate.
• Interface with project staff and stakeholders to manage and assess change orders in each project, which may involve changes to project scope, cost, and schedule.
• Assist and/or lead detailed reviews of Request of Proposals (RFP). Assist and/or lead a team to develop technical elements, schedule, and price estimates for proposal submission.
• Oversee weekly, monthly, and quarterly status reporting on project performance against budget, financial and operational goals. Interface with the customer providing inputs to technical presentations, telecoms, and formal reviews.
• Mentor other project managers on best practices within the Project Operations Group (POG) and lead Community of Practice.
• Create and lead new and/or modified POG processes, tools, procedures, and best practices and provides solutions to complex issues within the organization.
• Challenge organizational processes that do not contribute to value delivery, and illustrate better process alternatives.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in STEM required
• 5+ years of experience in project management; engineering project management preferred
• Experience working with project management methodology such as Catalyst including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, project management software and finance and accounting concepts and practices
• Experience working with client vision, business objectives, and critical success factors
• Experience working with delivery assurance principles and procedures
• Experience working with techniques and approaches related to architecture, development, integration, and deployment of project phases
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Valid U.S. Driver's License

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual starting salary for this position is between $120,000 - $130,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
