Job summary

MSA Safety Inc. seeks a seasoned Project Manager I capable of leading cross-functional, geographically diverse teams to deliver high-impact New Product Development initiatives.

You will oversee initiation through deployment, balancing schedule, budget, and quality while driving risk-aware decisions. The role requires deep R&D experience across mechanical, electrical and software domains, PMP/capable certification, and strong stakeholder communication with senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of project management experience in cross-functional and/or geographically diverse NPD projects.
• Minimum 10 years experience in R&D as contributor or project manager.
• Experience with mechanical, electrical and software engineering teams.
• CAP-M or progress toward PMP.
• Experience guiding Stage-Gate NPD processes with design reviews and releases.
• Knowledge of mechanical design: tolerances, prototyping, tooling/production.
• Familiarity with electronics development: PCB, firmware, debugging workflows.
• Understanding of software development methodologies
• Ability to communicate system architecture and integration risks
• Strong leadership and executive communication; experience with change management

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional projects of significant strategic impact, ensuring delivery meets customer expectations.
• Execute processes across initiation, planning, managing, monitoring/controlling, and closing, incl. schedule, scope, budget, quality, resources, risks.
• Measure and analyze project performance and identify variance for corrective action.
• Develop functional area knowledge to drive effective decision making and challenge the team respectfully.
• Deliver clear, concise reports and create presentations for internal and external audiences.
• Drive continuous improvement, standardization, and cost savings via MBS principles.
• Share new ideas and lessons learned to improve future project execution.
• Build, manage, and empower cross-functional teams; manage stakeholders and communication across levels.
• Navigate team challenges and mediate disputes to foster alignment.
• Proactively manage change and adoption of deployed initiatives.
