Job summary

SLB in Houston seeks an Engineering Project Lead to serve as the technical representative for complex projects, interfacing with clients, vendors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams across sites and remote resources, manage schedules and cost estimates, ensure compliance with the EDCN process, and drive scope control from kickoff through close of projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical) from an accredited university.
• 10+ years of industry experience in production facilities or process package engineering.
• Leadership in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams, on-site and remote.
• Experience managing technical discussions with clients and delivering technical presentations.
• High initiative, decision-making, and prioritization skills.
• Familiarity with ASME, API, NFPA, IEC, NEC standards.
• HAZOP and safety studies experience; model reviews.
• Operations and constructability workshop experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all engineering and technical deliverables, aligning with client requirements.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across locations, including internal and external resources.
• Manage engineering schedules, forecasts, and recovery planning to meet timelines.
• Ensure adherence to the EDCN process.
• Develop engineering documentation for cost estimation during BQ and proposals.
• Attend bid clarification meetings with technical input.
• Supervise TRs and TBEs based on vendor offers.
• Review engineering hour estimations for accurate costing.
• Ensure projects are executed as-sold, per SLB standards and client specs.
• Lead engineering teams, coordinating activities across disciplines.
• Develop and communicate execution strategies and baseline schedules.
• Attend kickoff meetings and design reviews to prevent scope creep.
• Monitor scope and initiate VORs if needed.
• Validate and approve engineering documents with QC.
• Manage subcontracted technical work and safety studies.
• Conduct weekly/monthly progress reviews and update forecasts.
• Provide approvals for VORs or MOC requests.
