Role Summary

You will be empowered and challenged to own development, deployment and optimization of a highly differentiated product that customers love for the ability to quickly jumpstart their observability journey. This team owns building and scaling synthetic monitoring solutions that simulate user interactions and proactively detect performance issues across applications. You’ll lead a high powered group of engineers in delivering impactful features that help our customers ensure uptime and performance.

Our products and technology team delivers digital resilience at enterprise scale with a self-service Splunk portfolio that offers unified security analytics, full stack observability and real-time visibility of streaming data. Learn more about the team, meet our leaders, and hear from Splunk technologists and engineers at splunk.com/careers/products-and-technology.

What you'll get to do

  • Lead and develop a team of highly talented and motivated engineers to deliver world class synthetics capabilities
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other engineering teams to define and deliver roadmap features.
  • Own the delivery of scalable, reliable, and secure services that integrate with Splunk’s Observability platform.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive technical excellence, ensuring high standards for code quality, testing, and performance.
  • Participate in architectural decisions and help evolve the technical direction of the Synthetics product.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop top engineering talent.

Must-have Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience building and leading engineering teams.
  • An experienced, hands-on leader who strives to make other people successful
  • Deep experience with Ruby on Rails or other similar modern web frameworks
  • Strong understanding of service-oriented architectures, principles and patterns
  • Proven track record of delivering production-grade software in multi-cloud environments at scale (AWS, GCP and Azure).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice-to-have Qualifications

We’ve taken special care to separate the must-have qualifications from the nice-to-haves. “Nice-to-have” means just that Nice. To. Have. So, don’t worry if you can’t check off every box. We’re not hiring a list of bullet points–we’re interested in the whole you.

  • Experience with observability, monitoring or performance testing tools, in particular synthetic or end user monitoring applications
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with web page optimization techniques and tools such as WebPageTest, Lighthouse or PageSpeed Insights
