Senior Engineering Manager, Software Quality

Base pay range

$237,000.00/yr - $296,000.00/yr

In this role, you will be the founding member of the Software Quality Team for our next generation products. For this unique leadership opportunity, we are seeking a seasoned leader with experience in 0->1 environments, to build the Software Quality team, testing and automation infrastructure, and CI/CD pipeline for Future Programs. You will work in a fast paced, dynamic environment on every stage of program development from concept to launch and have a key voice in developing the practices, culture, and testing principles of our growing team. This role is highly cross functional, working with systems engineering, software, and other validation teams. Ideal candidates will bring experience from working on safety-critical hardware products and bringing up hardware-in-the-loop automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Future Programs Software QA team, collaborating closely with product, hardware, software, commercial, innovation, and manufacturing engineering teams to validate and deliver high-performance, industry-leading next gen products.
• As the first-in Software QA hire, you will evaluate project needs in order to build a high performance team, stand up automation infrastructure, develop clear testing processes, and ultimately meet program reliability and timeline requirements.
• Leverage your leadership and people management experience to assess, hire, and effectively manage a high velocity, growing team.
• Use excellent technical judgment to develop the project’s strategic direction and prioritization, determining when to automate tests, balancing testing needs across multiple software surfaces (device, mobile, cloud), and prioritizing critical coverage during early bring-up stages.
• Evaluate technical options and bring up infrastructure to support CI/CD automation, module and system level Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing, simulators, mobile automation, supporting with manual testing as appropriate.
• Leveraging field analytic pipelines, drive continuous monitoring and improvements.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of proven experience in designing and managing test strategies for complex hardware/software systems.
• Extensive experience with test automation frameworks and tools, with a strong focus on scaling testing efforts.
• Deep knowledge of hardware and software diagnostics, validation, and early test escape detection methodologies.
• Strong leadership and operational management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven track record in managing test assets, including resource planning and deployment.
• Extensive hands-on experience in estimation, budgeting, program management, reporting, documentation, stakeholder management and escalation management.
• Strong communication skills and ability to summarize complex information to drive actions and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of Python or equivalent scripting language, exposure to C/C++ and resource constrained microcontroller driven systems.
• Experience with Bazel or equivalent build system, version control systems like Gitlab or Github, and their associated automation functionality.
• Experience testing mobile apps, displays, and other software with heavy UI components a plus.
• Experience with safety critical systems and automotive concepts a plus.
