Job summary

You will lead by example, balancing hands-on coding with strategic direction, while collaborating with Finance, Product, and Operations to meet roadmap goals and risk targets.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, 2+ years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
• Proven hands-on engineering leader with direct reports, combining people leadership with technical ownership and delivery accountability.
• Strong backend engineering experience with Python and Java, building and supporting production-grade services.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and applying microservices/distributed systems patterns.
• Proficient in web development (HTML, JavaScript) using modern frameworks like ReactJS.
• Strong DB skills with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL; DynamoDB design and performance considerations.

Responsibilities

• Hire, onboard, coach, and develop engineers; provide performance feedback; build growth plans; foster an inclusive, high-ownership culture.
• Remain hands-on while leading—drive system design, code, review, and mentor through pairing and design sessions.
• Own architecture, engineering quality, delivery predictability, reliability, and operations for a portfolio of finance solutions.
• Lead backend design with Python and Java; ensure maintainable and testable RESTful services and microservices.
• Guide frontend delivery (React and modern JS) with clean API contracts and strong UX performance.
• Drive data platform practices for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB at scale.
• Drive modernization initiatives and automation; improve CI/CD, observability, and runbooks.
• Collaborate with Finance, Product, Operations, and Technology partners on roadmaps and risk.
