Databricks is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a Configuration Platform team. This hands-on leadership role combines deep distributed systems judgment with people leadership, driving multi-quarter strategy for a critical stability primitive while continuing to raise the bar for safe change across the platform.

You will mentor engineers, review designs, own on-call and incident response, and partner with product and platform teams to ship configurable features safely at scale across

Qualifications

• 5+ years managing backend or platform teams (7–15 engineers).
• Strong distributed systems background and multi-cloud deployments.
• Hands-on EM disposition, design reviews, and coding involvement.
• Proven track record growing and retaining high performing teams.
• Operational experience with high-availability platforms and on-call.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team shaping how thousands ship, ramp, and rollback changes.
• Reduce incidents through guardrails, validation, and rollout patterns.
• Drive MTTR down via health-mediated releases and auto-rollback.
• Collaborate on UX, developer workflows, and safety versus velocity.
• Grow the team toward Staff/Principal levels.
