Job summary

LinkedIn is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Compute Infrastructure to lead a multi‑team group responsible for a foundational compute platform powering LinkedIn’s products and AI initiatives. The role is hybrid, with work from home and select office days.

You will guide architecture, scale distributed systems, and raise the bar for performance and reliability, while coaching future leaders and partnering with executives across engineering, product, and business teams.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in CS or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years in software engineering/technical management and people management.
• 7+ years in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering.
• Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional languages (e.g., Java, C++, Scala).
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, databases, and backend APIs.
• MS or PhD in CS or related field.
• 4+ years of software engineering management experience.
• 2+ years managing managers.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and scale a multi-team organization of engineers and engineering managers working on core infrastructure platforms.
• Partner with senior and executive management to define, champion, and execute a long-term technology roadmap and vision for LinkedIn’s core infrastructure.
• Drive deep technical and architectural discussions, challenge the status quo, and steer complex cross-functional directions to push the envelope of system performance.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with executive stakeholders across engineering, product, and business leadership to align organizational goals.
• Scale the organization by setting clear expectations, openly evaluating performance, upholding high accountability, and actively coaching future leaders (managers and principal/staff engineers) to stretch their skills.
• Drive a culture of operational excellence and architectural rigor. Lead the organization into defining performance goals and metrics, and build the infrastructure necessary to maintain a world‑class quality bar and detect issues in real time.
• Create an inclusive work environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, innovation, and learning across multiple teams, while holding an elite bar for engineering quality.
