Job summary

Brightwheel is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a full-stack team delivering customer-facing products used by school administrators, teachers, and families. You will guide product strategy, champion AI-driven workflows, and partner with Product, Design, and customer-facing teams to ship impactful features.

You will own platform health across web, mobile, and backend, ensure security and reliability, and mentor engineers to grow in a fast-paced, distributed-US environment.

Qualifications

• Led an engineering team delivering measurable customer or business results.
• Shipped an AI-powered product or workflow to production and can explain measurable impact.
• Built trusted partnerships with Product, Design, and business teams while representing an Engineering perspective.
• Experience in vertical SaaS, education, fintech, healthcare, CRM, ecommerce, or similar operations-heavy domains.

Responsibilities

• Lead a full-stack engineering team from problem definition through production and iteration.
• Translate company goals into clear outcomes, investment choices, and a credible execution plan.
• Set the engineering strategy for quality, reliability, security, privacy, and operational health.
• Ship AI-powered products and drive adoption with measurable customer impact.
• Hire and develop engineers, set a clear bar, and address performance when needed.
• Make capacity, dependencies, forecasts, and risks visible early.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and customer-facing teams to ship product with measurable adoption.
• Own product and platform health across web, mobile, and backend systems.
