Brightwheel is seeking an AI-native software engineer to join our product engineering team. This builder role tackles real customer problems and helps shape how AI changes the product experience for early education.

You will build customer-facing experiences that save time and enable better decisions for school admins, teachers, and families. You'll partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to turn ambiguous problems into shipped software with measurable impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals across systems, data, APIs, product surfaces, and infra.
• Experience shipping production software from problem definition to launch.
• Experience using AI tools and agents in engineering workflows.
• Ability to increase velocity without compromising quality.
• Experience automating workflows at team or company level.
• Comfort with ambiguity and turning unclear problems into shipped software.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration.
• Commitment to privacy, security, reliability, and customer trust.

Responsibilities

• Own problems from discovery through launch, measurement, and iteration.
• Leverage AI to improve build processes and product capabilities.
• Prototype quickly, validate assumptions, use working software for clarity.
• Raise quality, reliability, security, privacy, observability, and execution.
• Build customer-facing workflows across enrollment, billing, classrooms, staff, and family comms.
• Partner with product, design, and customer teams to ship software with measurable impact.
