Role

As the Senior Engineering Manager, AI Platform in the Splunk Artificial Intelligence group, you will be responsible for leading the development and operation of the AI platform that powers the core AI/ML capabilities in the Splunk product portfolio. The Splunk AI/ML capabilities drive productivity and automation in our customers’ journey to digital resiliency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior team members, and help drive the core AI/ML tooling roadmap for the Splunk AI group.

Responsibilities

1. Develop a long-term strategy and roadmap for AI/ML tooling to support the AI capabilities across the Splunk portfolio.
2. Lead the development of AI/ML tools that would accelerate the development of AI capabilities by our teams and by our customers.
3. Partner with Product Leads and Engineering Leads to ensure the AI/ML tooling supports our AI roadmap.
4. Partner with infrastructure teams to ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency.
5. Stay up to date with the latest research and developments in the field of AI/ML tooling, and ensure that these advancements are properly incorporated into our AI tooling roadmap.
6. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members to ensure the development of their skills.
7. Develop structures to hold the team accountable for progress, for learning, for communicating, and meeting business objectives.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. In-depth knowledge and proven track record in AI/ML infrastructure and tooling, including GPU infrastructure for gen-AI, frameworks for inference and training/fine-tuning, frameworks for agentic orchestration.
2. In-depth knowledge and proven track record in distributed systems and data platforms, including Ray & vector databases.
3. Experience with leading and managing teams of ML engineers and backend engineers.
4. Experience with setting and executing innovation strategies at both technical and organizational levels to drive business objectives.
5. Familiarity with architectural patterns of large, high-scale applications.
6. Experience in the Cybersecurity and/or Observability industry is preferred.
7. Experience with leading and executing complex AI products within cross-functional teams.

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $203,200.00 - 279,400.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $182,880.00 - 251,460.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $162,560.00 - 223,520.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
