Job summary

GitLab, the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps, is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager in the United States. You will own outcomes for a defined engineering domain, recruit a 4-engineer pilot squad, and drive high-impact productivity improvements across the SDLC with a sharp focus on system-level metrics.

You will lead hands-on investigations, set a concrete 3-month roadmap, and partner with leadership to ensure durable, measurable value before proposing a permanent function.

Qualifications

• Deep experience leading small, autonomous engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, performance, and reliability metrics.
• Proven ability to diagnose root causes and drive systemic improvements.
• Excellent communication with senior leadership and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and refine the operating model for non-linear productivity pilots and set milestones for a 3-month window.
• Personally source and hire 4 engineers for the pilot squad and establish hiring bar.
• Lead hands-on investigation to baseline MRPM, pipeline success rate, and latency with real data.
• Design and implement scalable fixes focusing on shift-left quality, tooling, and better human/agent interfaces.
• Track metric movement and ensure fixes are adopted broadly with minimal friction.
