Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive engineering experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • 3+ years of engineering leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing engineering teams.
  • Strong experience with industrial automation and controls.
  • Knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA and/or DCS systems.
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, MCCs and VFDs.
  • Experience leading capital projects and commissioning.
  • Ability to lead at organizational and technical levels.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills.

Job description

An established industrial manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a critical engineering function within a highly automated, technically complex manufacturing operation.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for developing and leading a multidisciplinary engineering team while driving engineering strategy, automation and controls, capital investment, equipment reliability and continuous improvement across the facility.

The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with a technical foundation in electrical engineering, automation and industrial controls and has experience leading engineering teams within a manufacturing or process environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical professionals
  • Establish engineering priorities and provide technical direction across the manufacturing operation
  • Provide leadership for automation, controls, electrical systems and instrumentation
  • Oversee PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS and industrial control/network architecture
  • Drive automation and controls modernization initiatives across production equipment and manufacturing systems
  • Lead major capital projects from concept and engineering design through installation, commissioning and startup
  • Oversee electrical distribution, MCCs, VFDs, instrumentation and other critical plant systems
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance and Reliability to improve equipment performance, uptime and manufacturing capability
  • Lead complex technical problem solving, root-cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, drawings and technical documentation
  • Develop longer-term strategies for manufacturing technology, automation and plant infrastructure
  • Manage contractors, system integrators, equipment manufacturers and engineering partners
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering, electrical and safety standards
  • Build engineering capability through coaching, development, succession planning and strong technical leadership
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of progressive engineering experience within industrial manufacturing, process manufacturing or another highly automated environment
  • 3+ years of engineering leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing engineering teams
  • Strong experience with industrial automation and controls
  • Knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA and/or DCS systems
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, MCCs and VFDs
  • Experience leading capital projects, equipment installations and commissioning
  • Ability to lead at both the organizational and technical level
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills
Preferred

PE license, advanced engineering or business degree, experience leading larger or multidisciplinary engineering organizations, PMP or reliability/automation certifications, and exposure to Industry 4.0 or manufacturing digitalization.
