The Opportunity
We're looking for a hands-on Senior Engineering Manager/Engineering Manager to lead our development engineering team and own delivery and operations across the ClipSuite platform. Reporting to the CTO, you'll be both the engineering leader and a lead engineer — setting technical direction, managing the team, and still shipping code yourself.
Core mission: Build and scale reliable data acquisition, data warehousing, and high-throughput, low-latency video processing and reporting systems using AI/ML, data architecture, cloud infrastructure, and modern media pipelines.
What You'll Do
- Technical Strategy & Architecture: Define the long-term vision for automated factory equipment telemetry and data, video ingestion, AI/LLM-based highlight detection, and infrastructure
- Hands-on Development: In our small, start-up team structure, contribute directly as a hands-on developer and lead engineer alongside managing the team
- Data Reliability & Validation: Ensure all data, reporting, and telemetry is validated, authenticated, and viable as the source of truth for downstream applications
- Pipeline & Automation Scale: Oversee distributed data and video encoding, GPU clusters, cloud storage, and real-time and batch video processing pipelines handling high data and video throughput
- Data Warehousing: Design and deliver a multi-tier, multi-tenant data architecture; lead factory data-source pipeline development and ongoing services
- AI & Machine Learning Integration: Partner with internal AI/ML engineers and vendors to integrate data and telemetry on Product, Process, People, and Equipment with computer vision
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with Operations, Customer Engineering, Product, and Sales leadership to translate business goals into a predictable engineering roadmap
- Delivery & Operations: Own engineering execution, release predictability, system reliability, and incident escalation management
- People & Organizational Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and manage software engineers and DevOps/SRE talent; build a high-performing, cross-functional culture
- Resource Management: Manage AWS, data, development, tooling, and audit budgets and cloud compute/GPU burn rates; drive vendor and tool selection (build-vs-buy) and resource allocation
What You'll Bring
- Experience: 10–15+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in senior engineering leadership (managing managers, or Director/VP level)
- Hands-on Engineering: Still writes production code and can lead by example on architecture and implementation
- Domain Knowledge: Deep familiarity with cloud architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure), container orchestration (Kubernetes), telemetry, data platforms, and video/media processing
- AI/ML Familiarity: Experience scaling ML inference workloads, large language models (LLMs), or computer vision pipelines for media analysis
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
- Core Competencies: Strategic planning, operational execution, stakeholder communication, and incident escalation management
Nice to Have
- MBA or equivalent leadership training
- Experience with GPU infrastructure and video encoding/transcoding at scale (e.g., FFmpeg, GStreamer, NVIDIA)
- Multi-tenant SaaS data warehousing (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Databricks)
- Industrial IoT, edge computing, or Industry 4.0 experience
- Manufacturing, production, or operations environment experience
