Job description

SENIOR ENGINEERING DESIGNER – WATER & WASTEWATER

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Engineer with a focus on Water and Wastewater to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including water distribution systems, water storage facilities, pump stations, water and wastewater treatment plants, sewer collection systems, and sewer pump stations.

This role involves coordinating with multidisciplinary professionals on municipal, industrial, and commercial water and wastewater projects, performing technical analyses, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and optimizing system performance. The Senior Engineering Designer will report to a Project Manager or Principal and will be responsible for developing impactful designs for various water and wastewater engineering projects.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of civil/municipal engineering experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and/or other industry-standard programs, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in Hydro CAD, Sewer GEMS, Water GEMS, or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
  • Aptitude for managing multiple projects concurrently with attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and execute complex technical instructions.

CORE DUTIES

  • Design water and wastewater projects, including sanitary pump stations, waterlines, sewer systems, and treatment facilities. Perform technical analyses and calculations to ensure system efficiency and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including environmental scientists, surveyors, and other engineers to deliver comprehensive solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards, including permitting and reporting.
  • Prepare cost estimates, construction schedules, and feasibility studies.
  • Support project construction through plan review, site inspections, and issue resolution. Mentor junior team members.
  • Develop and review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications to meet quality and client expectations.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through understanding needs, providing updates, and delivering cost-effective solutions.
  • Oversee work of Engineering Designers or interns.

The salary range for this position is approximately $29-$43 hourly, based on location and experience, in accordance with New York Pay Transparency Law. Actual compensation will consider various factors including education, experience, and geographic location.
