Job summary

TYLin is seeking a Senior Engineer (Design) to support the Potomac Interceptor Program for DC Water. The role is based in the DC Potomac Interceptor Project field office and involves three days per week on-site collaboration with the TYLin team.

You will manage sewer design teams, oversee project delivery, budgets, and schedules, and ensure compliance with contract requirements while coordinating with multiple consultants and contractors.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering required; MS preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in managing water and wastewater design projects.
  • PE license required; must reciprocate in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
  • CIP planning, budgeting, and scheduling experience; overseeing project delivery with multiple consultants/contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage sewer engineering design and consulting teams for complex assignments, including hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, utility plans, specs, and construction support.
  • Lead project delivery plans, resource management, budget, schedule, and client engagement.
  • Oversee multiple technical assignments to ensure client satisfaction while meeting contract, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Review engineering designs, bid packages, RFPs, and SOWs as part of program management for CIP implementation.
  • Coordinate program management services including CIP planning, budgeting, scheduling, and staff augmentation for large water and wastewater programs.

Job Summary

Our TYLin Water Sector is seeking a Senior Engineer (Design) to support a long-term program and work on one of the largest sewer rehabilitation project, the Potomac Interceptor Program for the firm’s key regional client, DC Water. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Program Manager as part of the TYLin team located in the DC Potomac Interceptor Project field office at DC Water (Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant) three days per week.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage sewer engineering design and consulting teams for complex assignments, including hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, utility plans, technical specifications, preliminary and final designs, bid assistance, design services during construction (DSDC), infrastructure condition assessment and rehabilitation and cost estimating for bypass pump systems, pipelines, and stormwater systems.

  • Manage engineering projects including developing work delivery plans to manage resources, budget, schedule, deliverables and client engagement.

  • Manage multiple technical assignments simultaneously to participate and lead teams to complete assignments to the client’s satisfaction while following the contract requirements and maintaining schedule and budget.

  • Review of engineering designs, bid packages, RFPs, and Statements of Work prepared by others, as part of a program management role in support of the client’s Capital Improvement Plan implementation.

  • Assist in providing Program Management Services including CIP planning, budgeting, scheduling, project bundling and prioritization, managing project delivery, overseeing and coordinating multiple consultants and contractors to execute the work, overseeing data management, providing technical advisory services and staff augmentation for large water and wastewater programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: B.S. degree in Civil Engineering is required. MS. Degree preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in managing water and wastewater engineering design projects and team. Demonstrated experience overseeing development and implementation of design and construction contract documents for complex infrastructure projects. Program management experience must include CIP planning, budgeting, and scheduling; overseeing project delivery by managing multiple consultants and contractors to execute the work; providing technical advisory services and staff augmentation for large water and wastewater programs.
  • Experience with conveyance on a large design multi-million dollar construction project
  • PE license is required. Must reciprocate license in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
