Job summary

Pickett and Associates, LLC, an ESP Company, is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead complex HV/EHV transmission design projects. Responsibilities include line routing, PLS-CADD modeling, structure and foundation design, and cross-team guidance across engineering disciplines.

The candidate will mentor others, participate in client meetings, and ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI standards in a hybrid Tampa environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Engineering is required.
• PE certification required.
• 8+ years of transmission line engineering experience.
• PLS-CADD experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review line routing and design criteria.
• Coordinate surveys, permits and vendor coordination.
• Provide guidance on plan/profile development and procurement.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in design reviews.
• Support client meetings and ensure safety compliance.

About the Role:

As a Senior Engineer, you will provide senior level engineering/technical expertise on complex electric transmission design projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead utility systems.

Specifically, the position manages, prepares, reviews and/or provides guidance for line routing, survey coordination, PLS-CADD modeling, structure design, foundation design, clearance checks, plan/profile development, material specification and procurement, constructability evaluations, work order package preparation, permitting, vendor/subcontractor coordination and construction support.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Develop and approve PLS-CADD Criteria
• Schedule project tasks for project support team
• Attend client stakeholder meetings
• Complete design review meetings with the client
• Mentor/train other engineering team members
• Attend internal design review meetings

What You Bring:

• Bachelor's in Engineering (required)
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification (required)
• 8+ years of related transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry (required)
• Experience in using PLS-CADD for designing transmission lines (required)
• Strong experience with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI
• Strong experience with liaising substation, environmental, right-of-way construction and maintenance stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability in the application of engineering theories and principles
• Increasingly proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing, and presenting recommendations
• Ability to work in a safe manner and always obey safety regulations
• Ability to be a self-starter and thrive in an unstructured, varied and deadline driven work environment
• Strong ability to collaborate with team members as well as peers in the electrical utility industry
• Effective communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
• Demonstrated verbal and technical writing skills
• Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
