Job summary

Pickett, an ESP Associates company in Jacksonville, FL, is seeking a Senior Engineer to provide senior-level engineering expertise on complex HV/EHV transmission design projects. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required).
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (required).
• 8+ years of transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry (required).
• Experience using PLS-CADD for transmission line design (required).
• Familiar with NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI codes and standards.
• Experience coordinating with substations, environmental, ROW stakeholders.
• Strong engineering judgment and analytical writing skills.
• Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.

About The Role

As a Senior Engineer, you will provide senior level engineering/technical expertise on complex electric transmission design projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead utility systems.

Specifically, the position manages, prepares, reviews and/or provides guidance for line routing, survey coordination, PLS-CADD modeling, structure design, foundation design, clearance checks, plan/profile development, material specification and procurement, constructability evaluations, work order package preparation, permitting, vendor/subcontractor coordination and construction support.

• Strong experience with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI
• Strong experience with liaising substation, environmental, right-of-way construction and maintenance stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability in the application of engineering theories and principles
• Increasingly proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing, and presenting recommendations
• Ability to work in a safe manner and always obey safety regulations
• Ability to be a self-starter and thrive in an unstructured, varied and deadline driven work environment
• Strong ability to collaborate with team members as well as peers in the electrical utility industry
• Effective communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
• Demonstrated verbal and technical writing skills
• Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
