Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Senior Engineer for Vehicle Dynamics Digital Development to plan and drive activities supporting advanced vehicle programs. You will build and correlate virtual models, drive offline simulations, and support Driver in the Loop tuning with HIL/SIL integration.

You will lead cross-functional discussions, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to global process improvements, ensuring milestones and deliverables align with program needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years in vehicle dynamics or related field.
  • Experience with tire models and chassis subsystems.
  • Proven cross-functional leadership and communication.
  • Experience with multi-body simulation (ADAMS Car) and MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with HIL/SIL/DIL testing and DVP&R and DFMEA (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage the Virtual workplan.
  • Ensure key deliverables meet milestones.
  • Build, correlate models to satisfy workplans.
  • Prioritize workload to balance program needs.
  • Lead technical discussions with interfacing teams.
  • Mentor less experienced staff and contractors.
  • Participate in global process development activities.

Job description

The Senior Engineer for the Vehicle Dynamics Digital Development is responsiblefor Planning and executing activities to support Advanced vehicle programs with component and sub system specifications to meet full vehicle performance targets for Ride, Handling and Steering. The selected candidate will be integral with the team and work with Vehicle Dynamics Test Engineers, Program teams, Vehicle Development, Chassis Component Engineers, NVH and Durability.Off-line Simulation assessments, followed by recommending countermeasures supported by Virtual Validation with correlated models.

Also supporting Driver In the Loop activity with models for tuning activities. HIL/SIL integration as needed.

  • Create and manage the Virtual workplan
  • Ensure key deliverables are met at the appropriate milestones
  • Building, correlating models and using them to satisfy the workplans
  • Prioritizetheworkloadaccordingtotheneedsoftheprogram: balancing meeting internal deliverables, but also best serving the vehicle & program needs.
  • Leading technical discussions with the interfacing teams
  • Provide Technical assistance to the Less experienced and contract Virtual Engineers
  • Participate in Global process development activities
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Candidate must be highly motivated, self-directed, andhave the ability to manage multiple complex assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong cross functional team management skills along with superior written and oral skills
  • Experience with tire models
  • Familiarity with Vehicle Ride, Handling, and Steering, with associated metrics
  • Understanding of Chassis subsystems and components - (e.g.Suspension Kinematics/Compliance, tires, springs, shocks and steering/Braking systems)
  • 2 years' experience of Multi BodySimulation (preferably ADAMS Car)
  • Experience with Other Simulation tools (e.g. CARSIM, Car Realtime, MATLAB, EXCEL)
  • Ability to Coach and mentor
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • Ability to develop custom routines - e.g. Visual Basic, Python, MATLAB
  • Experience with Hardware In the Loop, Software in the Loop &Driver in the Loop
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis(DFMEA)
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
  • Ability to extract component detail from NX, Teamcenter
