Job summary

LUMA Energy in San Juan, Puerto Rico, seeks a senior engineering professional to lead and coordinate engineering activities for complex projects. Reporting to the Supervisor/Manager, you will apply technical knowledge to promote safety and customer satisfaction while influencing key project decisions.

The role requires an ABET‑accredited Electrical Engineering degree, 8 years of experience, and a Puerto Rico Professional Engineer license.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
• Eight years of applicable engineering experience; Master’s counts as one year.
• Professional Engineering License issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects.

Responsibilities

• Leads and supports projects within scope, schedule, and cost.
• Leads and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise.
• Reviews functional specifications for completeness and consider practical limitations.
• Coordinates of design activities as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers.
• Reviews and authenticate designs.
• Work planning, coordination, budgeting, and cost estimating.
• Develops and update single line diagrams, and design drawings, and equipment specifications.
• Supports material procurement as a subject matter expert.
• Conducts high-level QA/QC design review, close gaps and manage lessons learned.
• Provides technical support to field and construction groups.
• Utilizes, develops, and improves engineering processes and standards.
• Provides reporting, including presentations to work groups and senior management.
• Assists the Supervisor in managing engineering contractors.
• Participates, leads, and represents LUMA actively in industry technical activities.
• Acts as an expert witness or provide expert opinions as required.
• Position may be required to work extended hours including major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education and experience

• BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college. Eight years of applicable engineering experience or a combination of education and applicable engineering experience. Master’s degree counts as one year.

Licenses

• Professional Engineering License issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects.
