Job summary

Smith+ Nephew in Mansfield, MA is seeking a Procurement New Product Introduction Leader to drive supplier engagement and cross‑functional launches from concept to commercialization.

You will lead procurement for NPI programs, engage suppliers early, and manage quotes, negotiations, and project execution while partnering with Engineering, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience across multiple complex projects with cross functional teams.
• Knowledge of SAP, Ariba, or comparable eSourcing systems.
• Strong supplier management, negotiation, cost management, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to thrive in a highly matrixed organization with competing priorities and urgency.
• Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or biologics is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement activities for new product introductions as the primary procurement representative on cross functional development teams.
• Identify, evaluate, and engage suppliers early in the product development process to support launches.
• Manage supplier quotations, negotiations, project execution, and ongoing supplier relationships.
• Coordinate sourcing decisions and supplier selection using data driven approaches.
• Monitor project costs and communicate risks, opportunities, and mitigation plans.
• Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Drive completion of procurement launch activities within SAP and support prototype/material delivery schedules.
• Assess and mitigate supply chain risks and develop a reliable supplier network.
• Support successful transition of products into production and operational ownership.

• 5+ years of procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or related experience within a manufacturing environment
• Experience working across multiple complex projects and cross functional teams
• Knowledge of SAP, Ariba, or comparable eSourcing and procurement systems
• Strong supplier management, negotiation, cost management, and project coordination skills
• Ability to thrive in a highly matrixed organization while managing competing priorities with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
• Experience within a regulated industry such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or biologics is preferred

The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $111,750 - $167,500 USD annually. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role at Smith + Nephew. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
