Job summary

Molex seeks a Senior Mold Project & Predictive Engineer in Lisle, IL to lead advanced development of injection molded components and optimize processes across internal and vendor manufacturing.

You will collaborate with Product Engineering, Automation, Development Process Engineering and CSBU tooling teams to drive design for manufacturability, mold design, and predictive simulation using Moldex, Moldflow, and NX.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Plastics Engineering or Plastics Engineering Technology.
  • 5 years of experience in large manufacturing plant or custom/captive molding company.
  • Fundamental understanding of metal injection molding (MIM) part design, plastic part design, tooling, and processing, as well as 2D and 3D CAD.
  • Analytical skills to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results, and make corrections.
  • Willingness to interact with global plants, including attending evening and early morning meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Support CSBU tooling groups during design, debug, qualification, and production phases.
  • Review mold designs and perform DFM work using NX.
  • Debug and develop processes for conventional, insert molded, wire overmolded, and MIM components.
  • Communicate concerns through DFMs and improve stamping technology and processes.
  • Utilize Predictive Engineering molding simulation (Moldex and Moldflow) and NX software.
  • Develop external resources to support new product development.
  • Contribute to and support TQM, Six Sigma, ISO, and EH&S Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.
  • Lead molding projects specification and development, including for automation lines with integrated molding.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Your Job

As a Senior Mold Project & Predictive Engineer at Molex, you will support the new product development and advanced development of plastic and metal injection molded (MIM) components, optimizing product design for both internal and vendor manufacturing processes. You will be instrumental in developing robust processes and products by working closely with various engineering and manufacturing teams.

Our Team

You will be part of the Copper Solutions Business Unit and will report to the Components Manager. Collaborative team includes Product Engineering, Automation, Development Process Engineering, and all CSBU tooling teams globally. You will also interact with vendors and plant contacts.

What You Will Do
  • Support CSBU tooling groups during design, debug, qualification, and production phases.
  • Review mold designs and perform DFM work using NX software.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Plastics Engineering or Plastics Engineering Technology.
  • 5 years of experience in large manufacturing plant or custom/captive molding company.
  • Fundamental understanding of metal injection molding (MIM) part design, plastic part design, tooling, and processing, as well as 2D and 3D CAD.

What Will Put You Ahead
  • 2 years of experience in the cable overmolding industry.
  • 2 years of experience with MIM DFM and processing.
  • Knowledge of NX software, TeamCenter Software, ECTR Software, and Mold Simulation Software.
  • 5 years of experience in mold design of connector components.
  • 2-3 years of experience in the fabrication and building of injection molds.

This role is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.

For this role, we anticipate paying $100,0000 - $130,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
