The Role

As a Senior Engineer - Modern Platforms Virtualization, you will work on a team to ensure executional excellence and create superior customer experiences for all assigned projects. The role combines technical ability and experience with polished communication skills to deploy VMware solutions. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Modern Platforms Virtualization.

In this role, you will be expected to travel up to 5%. It is a work-from-home role with the option to use a local Presidio office if available. Multiple roles are available for both full-time and 1099 contract employment.

Responsibilities include:

• Work with a team of engineers on client projects and ongoing professional services engagements.
• Design and implement VMware solutions for clients.
• Deliver VMware workshops for customers.
• Lead customer engagements to identify and manage workload migrations.
• Provide post-implementation support and troubleshooting for clients as needed.
• Author professional documentation for clients.
• Create logical and physical diagrams using Microsoft Visio or equivalent.
• Track and enter time spent into required systems promptly.
• Lead conversations and whiteboarding sessions with clients and peers.

Required Skills and Professional Experience

• Experience configuring and troubleshooting VMware Cloud Foundation products.
• Strong experience migrating data center workloads within VMware (P2V, vMotion, HCX, etc.).
• Experience designing and implementing complex VMware data center solutions.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/military background.
• 6+ years of advanced VMware experience, including workload migrations.
• 3+ years developing workload migration plans.
• Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation and related certifications (VCP preferred).
• Ability to travel and physically lift/install equipment.
• Experience with DHCP, DNS, network troubleshooting, backup, and disaster recovery technologies.
• Experience working with multiple data centers, high availability, replication, and RTO/RPO concepts.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team, prioritize tasks, and document environments properly.

Preferred Skills and Professional Experience

• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP.
• Experience with VCF products and add-ons such as NSX, vSAN, SRM, VCDR, etc.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with cloud storage solutions and data protection tools like Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, Cohesity.
