In December 2024, United Engineers and Constructors was acquired by Aecon Group Inc. Aecon and United have a proven working relationship and the United team continues to operate in the market as an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company.

We are looking for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to support a number of our nuclear power plant projects. The successful candidate will be working as part of a team of engineers and designers preparing modification packages for mechanical systems serving the nuclear power industry.

What You’ll Do Here
  • Develop design modification packages for mechanical systems at a nuclear power plant.
  • Perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations.
  • Develop mechanical design and procurement specifications.
  • Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, Piping Orthographic and Isometric drawings.
  • Develop material and workhour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.
  • Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.
  • Interface with plant stakeholders to determine project scope/requirements, support construction/implementation and start‑up activities as required.
What You Bring To The Team
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four‑year accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5‑10 years of relevant experience (at least 4 years nuclear) in the mechanical engineering field.
  • The ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NANTeL Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP‑ENG‑01).
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in the U.S.
  • Experience with fluid flow software (AFT FATHOM, or Equivalent).
  • Experience with Fire Protection and Detection Systems.

Base Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
