Seagate Technology in Fremont, CA seeks an Advanced Media Characterization Senior Engineer to advance magnetic, electrical, and ferroelectric media testing for HAMR technology. You will work closely with multiple Seagate groups to push recording physics understanding and design directions for next-generation media.

You will analyze spin-stand data, develop new metrology capabilities, and apply AI to align experiments with models, enabling robust media optimization and hardware/software upgrades

Qualifications

• Strong physics background in magnetism or ferroelectric.
• Hands-on experience with high-field magnetic (PPMS and MOKE), electrical, optical, and thermal measurements tools.
• Proficient programming skills with Python, LabVIEW, Visual Basic, C or related.
• Experience with comparing modeling with experimental results.

Responsabilités

• Develop and improve magnetic characterization, spin-stand testing, and data analytics for HAMR media understanding.
• Utilize existing magnetics characterization tools (PPMS and MOKE).
• Develop and enhance testing code and methods for HAMR media recording physics and design directions.
• Support spin-stand tester hardware and software upgrades.
• Apply AI techniques to compare measurements with modeling results.
