Job description

Position Description

GEICO is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to be a key member of the engineering team. The role involves maintaining high standards of compliance, protection, and availability within Service and Policy systems. You will contribute to our insurance business transformation, shifting from a traditional IT model to a tech organization focused on engineering excellence, while fostering a culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will help ensure Service and Policy Systems meet regulatory compliance requirements.

Position Responsibilities

As a Senior Engineer, you will:

  1. Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems.
  2. Develop product definitions and leverage your technical skills to drive optimal solutions.
  3. Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software development lifecycle.
  4. Lead design sessions and code reviews to elevate engineering quality across the organization.
  5. Define, create, and support reusable application components and patterns from both business and technical perspectives.
  6. Utilize programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, or others, along with SQL, NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure tools and services.
  7. Mentor other engineers and share best practices to improve processes within and across teams.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Advanced programming experience in Duck Creek.
  • Experience with C#/.NET, HTML5, JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular/React, XML, JSON, RESTful Web Services, and Event-Driven Architectures.
  • Experience with additional modern languages like Java, Python, or Go, and open-source software.
  • Deep experience within the .NET framework, including Visual Studio, SQL Server, ASP.NET, MVC, Web API, and REST.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and extensible REST APIs.
  • Experience designing and architecting systems.
  • Knowledge of DevOps concepts, Azure DevOps tools, monitoring, and security protocols.
  • Experience with continuous delivery, infrastructure as code, and data structures and algorithms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Experience

  • At least 4 years of software development experience with Duck Creek, CBO, Author, and Manuscript.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience within the .NET framework.
  • 3+ years of experience in system architecture and design.
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

Salary Range

$105,000 - $215,000 annually. Compensation will be determined based on experience, responsibilities, location, and market factors.
