Job summary

Jubilant HollisterStier LLC in Spokane, WA seeks a Senior Controls Engineer to oversee OT equipment controls, drive capital projects, and ensure regulatory compliance across manufacturing processes.

You will collaborate with Maintenance, QA, Manufacturing, Validation, and external partners, delivering technical leadership, documentation, and process improvements for sterile pharmaceutical production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or similar field.
  • 10+ years of OT Controls systems engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall technical oversight for JHS-Spokane OT equipment controls systems.
  • Provides expert technical support of OT Controls projects including facility and utility expansion, compliance upgrades, and process improvements.
  • Participates in support, guidance, and training for Maintenance controls technicians to include troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Provides controls engineering support for contract manufacturing teams including process development and recipe maintenance.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance for the facility and processes across local, state, federal, and international agencies.
  • Manages major capital and expense projects following Project Management Guidelines.
  • Interacts with internal/external customers including regulators, vendors, and contractors.
  • Develops detailed specifications and RFQs for quotes from A&E firms, contractors, or equipment manufacturers.
  • Develops and maintains engineering documentation per regulatory standards.

Job Description:

The primary function of the Senior Controls Engineer is to provide technical oversight of facility Operational Technology (OT) systems, equipment, and controls projects at JHS-Spokane. The position may participate directly or provide oversight of controls engineers or controls technicians on project teams which are responsible for the design, acquisition, installation, and/or upgrade of critical systems and equipment used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products. The Senior Controls Engineer assumes responsibility and accountability for capital and expense projects involving controls in facility or production equipment, cost reduction, process improvement, and/or compliance. In addition, the Senior Controls Engineer will provide engineering support to contract manufacturing teams to include process development, process optimization, and deviation investigations.

  1. Provides overall technical oversight for JHS-Spokane OT equipment controls systems.
  2. Provides expert technical support of OT Controls projects including facility and utility expansion, compliance upgrades, cost reduction, contract manufacturing, process improvements, construction projects, etc.
  3. Participates in support, guidance, and training for Maintenance controls technicians to include controls system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs.
  4. Provides controls engineering support and guidance for contract manufacturing teams to include process development, recipe creation and maintenance, and support of related capital projects.
  5. Is responsible for knowledge of regulatory requirements for the facility and processes to ensure compliance to local, state, federal and international regulatory agencies.
  6. Manages and/or participates in major capital and expense facility projects in a manner that is compliant with the "Project Management Guidelines" system. This system includes methods for scheduling, budgeting, meeting management, teamwork, communication, and documentation of a multi-departmental project team.
  7. Must work effectively with various internal and external customers on a daily basis. Internal customers may include departments such as Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Validation, Finance, etc. External interactions will include officials from local, state or federal regulatory agencies, A&E firms, construction firms, vendors, equipment manufacturers, etc.
  8. Participates in the compliance to both short-term and long-term company objectives as defined by upper management.
  9. Development of detailed specifications and RFQs to be used by A&E firms, contractors or equipment manufactures to accurately quote on projects being pursued by the company.
  10. Responsible for developing and using systems of engineering documentation required by regulatory agencies and in compliance with generally accepted engineering guidelines, SOPs, or quality standards.
Required:
  • Bachelors of Science; Major: Computer Science or Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, or similar engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of OT Controls systems engineering
Preferred:
  • Experience in a Pharmaceutical or other Regulated Industry
  • Allen-Bradley Controls system Hardware; PLC, PanelView HMIs, and Servo Drives.
  • Allen-Bradley Controls Software: RSLogix, FactoryTalk Studio
  • Wonderware Intouch, InSQL Historian, Archestra IDE and DA Servers
  • GE Proficy software packages; Fix32, iFix, and Proficy Historian
  • TCP/IP Networking
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Rockwell Logix Programmer
Working Environment:
  • Work in classified/aseptic areas.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Extended periods of sitting or standing.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. unassisted.
