Qualifications

  • Exposure to BAS/BMS or SCADA systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with PLC fundamentals preferred.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and industrial networking preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance for facilities SCADA/BAS/BMS and electrical systems, including cameras and access systems.
  • Supports facility controls projects: expansion, upgrades, cost reduction, and construction.
  • Trains facility technicians on controls troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Delivers controls engineering support for capital projects.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, federal and international regulations.
  • Develops specifications and RFQs for A&E firms, contractors, or equipment manufacturers.
  • Maintains engineering documentation per regulatory requirements and SOPs.

Job Description

The Facilities Controls Engineer is to provide technical support for the facilities SCADA/BAS/BMS and electrical systems. This includes the camera and card access systems along with UPS systems, equipment, and controls projects at JHS‑Spokane. The position may participate directly or assist others on project teams which are responsible for the design, acquisition, installation, and/or upgrade of critical systems and equipment used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products. The Facilities Controls Engineer assumes responsibility for participation in capital and expense projects involving controls in facility or production equipment, cost reduction, process improvement, and/or compliance. In addition, the Facilities Controls Engineer will provide engineering support to include new construction support, process development, process optimization, and deviation investigations.

  • Provides technical assistance for JHS‑Spokane facilities SCADA/BAS/BMS and electrical systems, including camera and card access systems, UPS systems, equipment and controls systems.
  • Provides technical support of Facility Controls projects including facility and utility expansion, compliance upgrades, cost reduction, contract manufacturing, process improvements, and construction projects.
  • Participates in support, guidance, and training for facility technicians to include controls system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Provides controls engineering support and guidance for related capital projects.
  • Responsible for acquiring and maintaining knowledge of regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with local, state, federal and international regulatory agencies.
  • Manages and/or participates in capital and expense facility projects in accordance with the “Project Management Guidelines” system.
  • Makes effective work by engaging internal and external customers on a daily basis.
  • Participates in compliance to both short‑term and long‑term company objectives as defined by upper management.
  • Develops detailed specifications and RFQs for A&E firms, contractors or equipment manufacturers to accurately quote on projects pursued by the company.
  • Responsible for developing and using systems of engineering documentation required by regulatory agencies and in compliance with generally accepted engineering guidelines, SOPs, or quality standards.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field required.
Skills
Level I
  • 1–3 years of engineering experience required.
  • Internship, co‑op, or experience supporting automation, controls, electrical systems, or facility operations preferred.
  • Exposure to BAS/BMS or SCADA systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with PLC fundamentals preferred.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, industrial networking concepts, and regulated environment preferred.
Level II
  • 3–7 years of experience supporting facility automation or industrial control systems.
  • Experience with BAS/BMS systems and SCADA system administration.
  • Knowledge of GMP‑regulated environments.
  • AutoCAD, TCP/IP networking, and SQL database fundamentals preferred.
Level III
  • 10 years’ experience in building automation systems.
  • PE, Siemens PPCL programming certifications preferred.
  • Prior experience in Manufacturing or Production Environment preferred.
  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD, TCP/IP Networking, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across departments.

Spokane, WA — On Site, Full‑Time

Shift

Monday – Friday 8:00 – 4:30 pm with other hours as requested.

Compensation & Benefits

Hiring Wage: $84,300 – $164,900 annually depending on level, with opportunities for growth, promotion, and annual raises.
