Job summary

BB&E Consulting Engineers and Professionals is seeking a senior Civil/Environmental Engineer to provide DoD program support, design reviews, and technical oversight across Air Force projects in Texas. You will review plans, assess compliance, and present findings to government stakeholders.

The role requires a PE license, ten years of relevant experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel to Air Force bases on temporary duty.

Qualifications

• At least ten years of engineering design/construction experience.
• PE license required; PMP and API certifications desirable.
• Experience with DoD/Air Force engineering regulations and deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Perform design reviews and provide corrective-action recommendations.
• Review RFIs and submittals for A&E and construction.
• Advise Government Project Managers on technical deliverables and compliance.
• Develop and present technical trainings and briefings.
• Travel to Air Force bases for temporary duty.

Position Summary

BB&E is an employee-owned, full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide technical engineering and Subject Matter Expert (SME) support. Conduct design reviews and make recommendations as to corrective action or approval
• Perform technical reviews of RFIs (potential changes, differing site conditions, etc.). Provide technical reviews of A&E and construction submittals
• Provide expert analysis and advice to Government Project Managers and stakeholders regarding A&E and construction Contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with DoD and industry standards, to include recommendation for approval or disapproval by the Government (e.g. designs, work plans, work classification, schedules, cost estimates, Contractor's approach/methods, Contractor proposals, to include effectiveness and efficiency of technical approach, and analysis of proposed work/activity productivity) in their respective discipline/area of expertise
• Develop and present technical presentations, visual media, and/or training related to mission areas
• Travel to various Air Force bases on temporary duty, and possibly infrequent trips to HQ AFCEC for in-person meetings

Requirements

Key Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a NACI/CAC is required
• Knowledge:
• o Knowledge of Department of the Air Force and Department of Defense (DoD) engineering and design regulations
• o Familiarity with the Air Force Civil Engineering organization.
• o Expertise reviewing technical deliverables, designs, and construction submittals
• Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Software: Proficiency using MS Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Self-Starter: Highly motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously

Experience & Education

• Experience: At least ten (10) years of experience performing engineering duties related to design and/or construction.
• Education/Certifications: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Chemical Engineering disciplines; and a master's degree in any field. Professional engineer's (PE) license is required; Project Management Professional (PMP) is desirable. American Petroleum Institute (API) Certifications are highly desirable. Substitution of experience for education, and certifications for experience will be considered.
