Job summary

AlphaStaffHCM is seeking a Senior Engineer to provide technical leadership across complex natural gas projects. The role partners with Operations, Engineering, and Business Development to deliver safe, compliant solutions and drive process improvements from concept to completion.

Day-to-day responsibilities include leading project lifecycles, mentoring junior engineers, supporting PSM programs, and maintaining process simulations for cost estimation and optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in Engineering, Project Management, Operations Support, or related field.
• Experience in the natural gas industry.
• Experience using engineering analysis and process simulation software.
• Strong knowledge of process engineering, optimization, controls, and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full project lifecycle for large-scale engineering projects, including design, development, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers while ensuring compliance with standards.
• Troubleshoot complex process and facility issues as a technical resource for Operations and Engineering teams.
• Support Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and related analyses and reviews.
• Maintain process simulation models for troubleshooting, development, and cost estimation.
• Partner with Engineering and Business Development to evaluate projects and develop technical solutions and estimates.
• Review facility and process designs for safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop equipment and instrumentation specifications and perform engineering calculations.
• Monitor schedules and budgets, recommending adjustments as needed.
• Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.

A client of AlphaStaffHCM is looking for a Senior Engineer. This individual will provide technical leadership and engineering expertise to support the development, execution, and optimization of complex engineering projects within the natural gas industry. The Senior Engineer will partner closely with Operations, Engineering, and Business Development teams to develop safe, efficient, and compliant solutions while supporting process improvements, troubleshooting efforts, and project execution.

Day to day: The Senior Engineer is responsible for managing complex engineering projects from concept through completion while providing technical guidance, process safety support, and operational expertise across the organization.

• Lead the full project lifecycle for large-scale engineering projects, including design, development, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers while promoting engineering excellence and compliance with company standards.
• Serve as a technical resource for Operations and Engineering teams by troubleshooting complex process and facility issues.
• Support Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, including Process Safety Information (PSI), Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
• Maintain and utilize process simulation models for troubleshooting, project development, training, and cost estimation.
• Partner with Engineering and Business Development teams to evaluate projects and develop technical solutions and project estimates.
• Review facility, equipment, and process designs to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop equipment and instrumentation specifications and perform engineering calculations and technical analyses.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and performance while recommending adjustments as needed.
• Promote a culture of safety and ensure adherence to all company, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Must have's:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Engineering, Project Management, Operations Support, or a related field.
• Previous experience within the natural gas industry.
• Experience utilizing engineering analysis and process simulation software.
• Strong knowledge of process engineering, optimization, controls, and troubleshooting.
• Comprehensive understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
