Job summary

Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced engineer for a Senior Power Substation Physical Design role in Knoxville, TN. The position emphasizes design of substations from 34.5 kV to 500 kV in a collaborative, hybrid in‑office environment.

Required are a ABET-accredited BSEE/BSME and 8–12 years in the power utility sector. Proficiency with MicroStation is expected; AutoCAD/Inven tor skills are a plus. Strong communication with clients and stakeholders is essential.

PDS4 - Power Delivery Substation

Mesa is seeking an experienced engineer for a position in Power Substation Physical Design. The successful candidate shall have extensive experience in the field of Power Substation Engineering Design within the US Power industry. A BSEE or BSME from an ABET accredited University is required. The successful candidate will work in an in‑office (hybrid basis), collaborative team environment to provide engineering design support for the physical design of Power Substations ranging in voltage levels from 34.5 kV to 500 kV. As a Senior Engineer, this individual will be expected to be skilled in all aspects of Physical Substation design and able to thoroughly evaluate Physical design project packages for adherence to standards and for constructability of design. Familiarity with Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor would be considered a plus. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders at all levels is required.

This opportunity is for a hybrid work environment (home and office) and requires residing in the Knoxville, TN area.
