Job summary

NiSource seeks an asset management specialist to optimize health and performance of electric assets across the plan, maximizing asset value and supporting strategic objectives through lifecycle management.

You will collaborate with Reliability, Planning, Engineering, Budgeting, Regulatory, Legal and Operations to develop regulatory filings, lead cross-functional teams, and guide asset risk identification and mitigation while ensuring safety and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • 5+ years of relevant electric utility experience.
  • Expert knowledge of substation and line equipment and operation.
  • Understanding of asset management systems including Cascade, GIS, and Maximo.

Job description

Job Summary

This position is responsible for optimizing electric asset health and performance in the NIPSCO electric plan that maximizes asset value and delivers strategic objectives through active management of NIPSCO's electric assets' life cycle. This position also reviews and assesses asset risks to improve the safety and reliability of the Electric System.

Essential Functions
  • Promotes and assures safe working environment and public safety.
  • Work in conjunction with Electric Reliability, Planning, Engineering, Budgeting, Regulatory, Legal, Operations, and other NIPSCO departments in developing regulatory filings around NIPSCO’s implementation of its long-term system plans, including TDSIC.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of NIPSCO’s asset management strategy for wood poles, transformers, circuit breakers, underground cable, steel towers, batteries, and other major electric assets.
  • Provide quality assurance over the updating and maintenance substation and line assets in NIPSCO’s enterprise asset management software programs including Cascade.
  • Creation of industry publications and lead benchmarking to identify asset practices and trends that could benefit NIPSCO in its asset management implementation/practices.
  • Lead specific, cross-functional, short-term, problem-solving teams that draw on the diversity of members to improve the safety and reliability of NIPSCO’s electrical assets and processes.
  • Provide guidance and expertise in the asset risk identification and mitigation development process.
  • Communicate with engineering and operating departments to confirm knowledge of standard processes, methods, designs, and practices.
  • Is available to assist in the storm restoration process where needed.
Required Qualifications for Position
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology Degree from an ABET accredited program
  • 5+ years of relevant electric utility experience
  • All of the qualifications for Engineer III including Expert knowledge of substation and line equipment and operation.
  • Expert knowledge of substation and line equipment inspections and maintenance cycles.
  • Ability to identify equipment operating trends and make recommendations for maintenance activities.
  • Expert understanding of substation and line diagnostics and reliability assessments.
  • Expert understanding and ability to make changes to asset management and operations support systems including Cascade, GIS, and Maximo.
  • Uses advanced knowledge of Substation and Line equipment to recommend changes in materials, construction, and maintenance.
  • Recommends changes in maintenance procedures and intervals based on advanced equipment knowledge and understanding.
  • Ability to perform duties with increased latitude for un-reviewed work.
  • Leads multi-departmental teams to solve complex reliability, material, or operational issues.
  • Proficient in principles of project management
  • Understanding of basic principles of project management
  • Proficient knowledge of operations support systems, Cascade, iTOA, EMS, Maximo, Work Management, GIS, CIS, NMS, CYME
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
  • Experience in the electric utility industry

Salary Range

Salary Range*: $113,500.00 - $170,300.00 *The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
