Job summary

Terracon is seeking a Senior Engineer in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area for a full-time hybrid role with a mix of on-site project work and remote flexibility. You will lead engineering projects in core disciplines including geotechnical, environmental, materials, or facilities, and mentor project teams while coordinating with clients and managers.

Role Description

The Senior Engineer role is a full-time, hybrid position based in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale Area, with a mix of on-site project work and some work-from-home flexibility. In this role, the Senior Engineer leads and executes engineering projects, including planning, design, analysis, and technical review within Terracon’s core service areas (such as environmental, geotechnical, materials, or facilities). Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing technical reports and proposals, overseeing field investigations and testing, interpreting data, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. The Senior Engineer mentors project teams, coordinates with project managers and clients, supports business development efforts, and helps manage project budgets, schedules, and quality. This position requires effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and clients to deliver practical, reliable solutions that align with Terracon’s commitment to resourceful and responsive service.

Qualifications

• Strong technical engineering skills in at least one of Terracon’s core disciplines (e.g., geotechnical, environmental, materials, or facilities), including project design, analysis, and interpretation of field and laboratory data.
• Demonstrated project management capabilities, such as planning work scopes, managing budgets and schedules, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and delivering projects on time and within quality standards.
• Effective communication and documentation abilities, including preparing clear technical reports, proposals, and presentations, and engaging confidently with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
• Leadership and mentoring skills, with experience guiding junior staff, fostering a safety-focused culture, and promoting collaboration across offices and disciplines.
• Proficiency with relevant engineering software and tools (e.g., design, modeling, and data analysis applications), and strong general computer skills (e.g., MS Office).
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (civil or related discipline required; advanced degree preferred) and professional licensure (PE or ability to obtain PE within a reasonable timeframe).
• Experience working on consulting engineering projects, preferably with private and public sector clients, and familiarity with applicable codes,
