Job summary

Stoel Rives LLP seeks a senior-level energy regulatory attorney with five or more years of experience to join its Energy Development Practice Group. The position can be based in any office, with a preference for Portland or Minneapolis, and involves advising clients on regulatory strategy and compliance across energy sectors.

You will prepare filings, lead proceedings before state commissions or FERC, draft development and supply contracts, and mentor junior lawyers while developing client

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in energy regulatory law.
• Experience before state utility commissions or FERC.
• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks governing energy infrastructure and regulatory strategy.
• Prepare and oversee regulatory filings, including rate cases and certificates of need.
• Lead regulatory proceedings before state agencies and negotiate related matters.
• Draft and negotiate agreements for project development, power supply, operations, and regulatory approvals.
• Collaborate with transactional, environmental, real estate and litigation teams on multidisciplinary matters.
• Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to client development.
