Location: This position is based in the DMV area (Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia).

ICF is seeking a detail-oriented energy analyst to support our expanding energy team in the areas of electricity, petroleum, and natural gas markets and infrastructure. You will contribute to the development of innovative, analytical, high-quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff. The team’s primary services involve conducting research, data analysis, and modeling to support policy analysis or to develop energy insights to inform client decision-making. The team also coordinates energy-related emergency planning and response.

Our consulting engagements typically integrate critical energy infrastructure studies, energy market fundamental analysis, resource assessments, and economic analysis to provide advice on energy market trends, regulatory issues, and investments. ICF’s clients include federal, state, and local government clients and commercial entities with client interaction.

This position will be a hybrid work arrangement, working between an office location in Reston, VA and from home, and potentially client sites (DOE).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide research, analysis, technical writing, and reporting on specific technical issues.
  • Collect and analyze data for modeling or analytic projects.
  • Create maps of energy infrastructure and dependencies and be able to explain those dependencies.
  • Monitor markets and the key regulatory bodies to identify the prospects of changes in regulations and other market-related developments that may affect the nation’s infrastructure.
  • Create written documents that convey key analytic findings for distribution to internal/external clients and/or present findings verbally to clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics or related subjects
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience with electricity, petroleum, and natural gas markets and/or infrastructure.
  • Experienced with energy supply chains, especially electricity infrastructure and fuels market dynamics.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this role.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics or related subjects.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with electricity, petroleum, and natural gas markets and/or infrastructure.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of energy sector dependencies and resilience initiatives.
  • Independence in research and writing skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal settings.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong quantitative and/or modeling skills, specifically database management and data analysis skills.
  • Involvement with ArcGIS suite of software.
