Job Description

BAE Systems Electronic Systems (ES) is seeking an energy engineer to join our energy management team supporting the New England region properties. This technical position reports to the Energy and Utility Manager. The team focuses on resource use reduction, lowering utility costs, improving environmental performance, and embracing new technologies across the ES portfolio of buildings. The role aims to enhance the bottom line by managing energy, water, and waste through facility design and operation.

This is a hybrid position requiring residence within the New England region, supporting 16 properties totaling 3.2M sq ft. The selected engineer will manage 3 properties (~1.3M sq ft), primarily in Nashua, NH, and Hudson, NH, with a preference for candidates in southern NH or northern MA. Regular travel to these sites is required, initially weekly. The engineer will actively engage with site teams to drive energy management initiatives and progress toward resource reduction goals, acting as a key resource for each facility.

The Role:
  1. Lead engagement with site teams: conduct regular meetings, support reduction opportunity identification, develop strategies, establish measurement and verification methods, and review project design documents.
  2. Travel and site support: conduct weekly visits to understand operations, identify new reduction opportunities, support audits, commissioning, and site engagement.
  3. Develop and scope projects: identify capital improvements, building optimization, and O&M measures.
  4. Support project development: perform feasibility studies, TCO assessments, estimate savings, ROI, develop scopes, and pursue funding.
  5. Rebates and incentives: identify and capture applicable rebates for reduction projects.
  6. Optimize building systems: utilize BMS to improve operations and gain insights into energy use.
  7. Environmental reporting: support quarterly utility consumption reporting.
  8. Innovation and program development: collaborate on piloting new technologies and expanding the energy management program.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Energy Management, Engineering, Facilities Management, Environmental Technology, or 3-5 years related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and proactive attitude towards achieving net zero.
  • Experience with building automation, management systems, and MEP systems.
  • Experience in developing energy reduction projects and savings calculations.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Certifications such as CEM, CEA, LEED, etc.
  • Experience with building optimization, smart building tech, commissioning, and retro-commissioning.
Pay & Benefits

Salary range: $95,106 - $161,680. Benefits include health, dental, vision, 401(k), disability, life insurance, paid time off, holidays, parental/military leave, and recognition programs.
