Job summary

iRocket is seeking a senior Energetics Formulation Chemist or Engineer to lead formulation, development, scale-up, and manufacturing transition of energetic materials for solid rocket motor applications. Travel across Long Island, Texas, and Indiana is required to support production readiness and site integration.

The role targets a technical leader with hands-on experience in propellant formulation, processing, aging, safety, and translating customer requirements into repeatable production

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or closely related field.
• 5+ years of directly relevant professional experience in energetic materials, solid propellants, or solid rocket motor propulsion.
• Experience with energetic-material manufacturing equipment, facility/process development, production scale-up, and safe operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead formulation and development of solid rocket motor propellants and related energetic material systems.
• Plan and execute formulation experiments, analyze test data, and drive iterative improvements.
• Develop and mature processes from lab to repeatable manufacturing with emphasis on producibility, quality, safety, cost, and throughput.
• Define requirements for energetic-material manufacturing facilities and oversee equipment selection and commissioning.
• Develop manufacturing instructions, process controls, specifications, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, test, quality, and program teams to integrate energetic-materials into motor performance.
• Support hazard analyses, handling practices, process safety reviews, and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor staff and serve as SME for energetics formulation and manufacturing readiness.
