Job summary

X-Bow Systems is seeking a Sr. Chemist - Energetics in Luling, TX, to lead propellant development and safety for solid rocket motors. You will drive formulation optimization, materials selection, and QA/QC, while mentoring a team of chemists in a growing propulsion lab.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in energetics, an MS or PhD in Chemistry, and deep knowledge of internal ballistics and material properties. ISO 9001/AS 9100 exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Chemistry (MS/PhD) required.
• 10+ years of experience in energetics is highly desired.
• Deep knowledge of internal ballistics and propellant-liner-insulation interactions is essential.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS 9100 QMS is a plus.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Technical lead for propellant applications across government and commercial programs.
• Mentor junior chemists in a fast-paced lab within budget and schedule constraints.
• Develop and optimize solid rocket propellant formulations and related materials.
• Coordinate test plans, readiness reviews, and test campaigns; analyze results.
• Support safety, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing scale-up activities.
