Job summary

Flexport is hiring a Senior Security Engineer for Detection & Response in San Francisco. You will own detections end to end, writing and tuning them, with a follow-the-sun pager model. The role focuses on proactive telemetry, cloud-native detections, and rapid incident containment to minimize business impact.

We value hands-on experience with Python/Go, modern SIEM tooling, and a track record of shipping production-grade detection logic. Relocation support is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in detection engineering, incident response, or threat hunting.
• Proficiency with at least one programming language (Python, Go, or similar).
• Experience with a modern SIEM or detection pipeline (Panther, Elastic, Splunk, or similar).
• Hands-on incident response experience and ability to triage real security incidents.

Responsibilities

• Build and tune detections across endpoint, identity, SaaS, and cloud as code, version-controlled and CI/CD-driven.
• Track detection quality: MITRE ATT&CK coverage, precision, time-to-detect.
• Own incident response: triage, contain, remediate, and document retroactively for systemic fixes.
• Build automation to reduce toil and ensure context travels across time zones.
