Job summary

The Department of Labor is seeking an Employment & Training Specialist III to develop and coordinate employment and training services across multiple Maine locations. The role involves testing, counseling, referrals, and program administration under limited supervision.

Responsibilities include budgeting, contract oversight, data reporting, and collaboration with partner agencies. Travel statewide may be required, with some overnight trips.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of agency goals, objectives, procedures, and policies.
• Knowledge of occupational groups, job families, and employers.
• Ability to understand and interpret applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
• Ability to manage an employment and training program.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to facilitate workshops and present information to large groups.

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates work activities including testing, counseling, recruitment, and referral services to meet program goals.
• Prepares, negotiates, and monitors program budget, contracts, and grants to secure resources.
• Develops, designs, oversees, evaluates, and reports on employment and training programs and performance data.
• Writes reports and responds to inquiries to document services.
• Coordinates program services with other support services for client needs.
• Confers with special interest groups to inform on program goals and objectives.
• Might determine eligibility, conduct assessments, provide case management, and job placement.
