Position Overview:

An opportunity exists for a highly experienced Employment Law Attorney to provide trusted legal guidance to public school districts across California. This remote role focuses on defending educational institutions in employment litigation, ensuring policy compliance, and supporting public sector leadership with legal strategy.

The role offers the chance to work in a tech-forward, collaborative legal environment that values attorney autonomy, professional development, and work-life flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent public school districts in employment-related disputes including wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wage/hour claims.
  • Strategic Counsel for Education Leaders
  • Serve as a legal advisor to district administrators, HR teams, and school boards on sensitive employment matters and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Policy & Compliance Guidance
  • Develop, review, and implement employment policies aligned with California law and federal standards to support lawful and ethical workplace practices in public education.
  • Training & Legal Education
  • Deliver customized legal training to superintendents, HR leaders, and school officials to support compliance and reduce litigation exposure.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active and in good standing with the State Bar of California
  • Minimum of 10 years practicing Employment Law as a licensed attorney--Direct experience with school district legal
  • Must be a current California resident
  • Strong, exclusive focus on employment litigation defense, ideally with a record of defending public sector clients
  • Preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with legal procedures related to municipalities, educational institutions, or other public entities is a plus
  • JD and Bachelor's degree required
