Job summary

Edward Jones in Tempe, AZ seeks an experienced employment attorney to join the Legal division's Talent team and advise on enterprise-wide matters. You will partner with Human Capital and business leaders to shape practical solutions across a multi-state organization.

With wage‑and‑hour expertise and a collaborative approach, you will influence policies, training, and workforce practices while advancing the firm's thoughtful governance.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active license to practice in Missouri, or ability to obtain within six months.
• At least five years of progressively responsible legal experience with employment advice.
• Substantive experience advising on wage-and-hour matters, multi-state pay practices, classifications, and compliance reviews.
• Strong written and verbal communication and the ability to build trusted cross-functional relationships.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a highly collaborative environment.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and continued professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical, business-oriented advice to Human Capital and leaders on employment law matters (performance, discipline, investigations, leaves, accommodations, reorganizations, RIFs).
• Lead wage-and-hour compliance efforts on classification, overtime, incentives, timekeeping, meal/rest, and pay rules.
• Lead or support multi-state classification reviews, pay-practice assessments, and remediation efforts.
• Partner with Human Capital, Finance, and leaders on compensation and incentive program design and implementation.
• Monitor developments in law and translate into guidance, policy updates, and proactive compliance strategies.
• Draft and review employment policies, agreements, and workplace standards.
• Assess risk and help leaders move from issue identification to workable decisions.
• Develop and deliver training and contribute to broader Legal initiatives and workforce planning.
• Collaborate with Legal and outside counsel on investigations and disputes.
